Obituary

Martin Simon passed away on August 29, 2021, at his home in Green Lane, Pennsylvania with family at his side, from complications of ALS. Martin was born on November 8, 1943 in Philadelphia to Theresa “Babe” Kohn and George Simon. Though he lost his father and contracted polio at the young age of 3, Martin never dwelled on the negative and had a lust for life admired by all. After graduating from Penn State, he pursued his love of writing through sports journalism and other paths before forming a successful advertising agency, The Simon Group. After retirement, he continued to write, but focusing on music. Throughout his life, Martin enjoyed camping or a family road trip as much as traveling abroad. He impacted his communities whether it was through Indian Princesses with his daughters, as a Big Brother, inspiring others with disabilities, as a musician matchmaker, or just charming the staff at every restaurant or theater he visited! As everyone knew, some of his favorite things were rock & roll, his corvette, John Fogerty, and Mickey Mantle; but most of all, he loved his family and friends!

Marty will be forever loved and missed by his wife Vera and her big loving family; his sister Hope Kostmayer and husband Charlie Huth; his daughter Rebecca and partner Stuart Silverman; his daughter Gabrielle and husband Jay Fallone, and children Juliet and Jivan; his daughter Stephanie, husband James Claffey, and children Bailey, Michael and Madeline; and so many other family members and friends.

The memorial service was held on September 12, 2021. The replay can be viewed below.
